Anthropic launched Claude Corps on June 11, 2026 — a $150 million national fellowship program that will place 1,000 early-career workers at nonprofits across the United States, paying each fellow $85,000 a year to spend twelve months teaching those organizations to use Claude. 1

How it works

Three organizations share the structure. Anthropic funds the program and sets strategy. CodePath — the country's largest provider of collegiate computer science education and an existing Anthropic nonprofit partner — acts as the official employer of record for all fellows and runs the programming. Social Finance, a nonprofit registered investment advisor, handles measurement and evaluation and is building a longer-term financial vehicle designed to let the program scale. 1

Each fellowship runs for twelve months. Fellows receive five hours of structured training per week on Claude in nonprofit settings throughout their placement, plus a dedicated CodePath mentor, access to Anthropic office hours, and an expanded Claude token budget. The remaining time goes toward the host organization's actual work.

The first cohort is 100 fellows, beginning in October 2026. Applications are open now and close July 17. Two additional cohorts start in January 2027 and August 2027. Anyone over 18 with under two years of full-time work experience is eligible — no specific educational background required — provided they are authorized to work in the U.S. and willing to relocate if needed. 1

What Anthropic says it's for

Daniela Amodei, Anthropic's president, spoke to AP about the rationale: the companies building transformative AI bear a responsibility to make sure the benefits reach the people absorbing the disruption. 2 The program is explicitly tied to the labor-displacement scenarios outlined in the same-day policy document — which sketched three possible outcomes, including unemployment rates at 5%, 10%, and beyond, and committed $200 million to economic research alongside the fellowship funding.
